Joost Sucks…CPU and Bandwidth

with 9 comments

Got my invite to Joost today. Downloaded the app and tried to use it.

Channel selection is lame.

Response is slow.

And even on my reasonably powerful laptop, the memory, CPU and network usage went through the roof.

Yup. Uninstall.

  1. Wow. I wouldn’t go that far. It has some kinks, but it’s not that bad.

  3. I strongly agree, I’ve been a beta tester for a week now, and when it actually works I still can’t find anything worth watching. The idea has merit but content will always be king and right now Joost simply has none worth mentioning

  5. Ditto. Very slow. Very choppy. I’ve tried many different connections (home, work, friends, hotels) and nothing seems to work. I have a 2.8ghz cpu with 2 gigs of ram and a great graphics card and joost looks like total crap.

  7. I tried the new beta version, it crashes, it blocks my whole Mac so I have no choice than to force quit my whole mac(Intel core2duo 2,0 GHz).

And the brief moment it works I cannot find anything worth watching. Ik clicked on a e-mail I received about Tech Closeup TV which I thought might be interesting but havn’t got it so far.

I won’t try it again, because I don’t feel like starting everything up again.
I looked promising, but it is crap and a lot of air.
