It sounds as though you have your docs already compressed using GZIP. mod_deflate is designed to do this on the fly as content is generated. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;When HTML content is compressed using mod_deflate, it should maintain the text/html MIM-type.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;smp</description>
