Sudden Changes In Global Internet Performance Statistics

with 2 comments

Ok, this is a weird set of data, gathered by our friends over at the Internet Traffic Report

Traffic Volume -- 30 Days
Packet Loss -- 30 Days

Any of you black-shirted, BGP-lovin’, AS-hoarding packet geeks out there want to comment on what happened on or about Oct 27-29, 2005? I am sure the rest of us would LOVE to know.

  1. We just lit up a new Internet connection around that time, just making sure I’m not transiting traffic for the Internet… Nope :)

I checked the NANOG list for those days and nothing pops up. The weekly routing reports for the week before and after don’t show anything drastically different either.

I’m curious how they measure those statistics, though.
